DRM protected eBooks have a different level of security to guard against theft and piracy. You can easily read and download DRM protected eBooks on your computer and many popular devices; however, you cannot read DRM protected eBooks on your Kindle or on your Palm and Pocket PC device at this time.

Macs running Adobe Digital Editions are compatible with these secure formats: Secure Adobe eBooks (Secure PDF) and Secure EPUBs.

PCs running Adobe Digital Editions are compatible with these secure formats: Secure Adobe eBooks (Secure PDF) and Secure EPUBs.

PCs running Microsoft Reader are compatible with these formats: Secure Mobipocket eBooks (Secure PRC) and Secure Microsoft eBooks (Secure LIT).

Can I read DRM protected eBooks on my eBook reader?

Yes, you can read DRM protected eBooks on a Nook, Sony or Kobo eReader. You can also read them on an iPad by downloading a compatible application, such as OverDrive Media Console.

How do I add DRM protected eBooks to my computer?

First, verify that you have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer.

Make sure that you have an Adobe ID.

Make sure that you have authorized your computer using your Adobe ID. To do this, open Adobe Digital Editions and click on the down arrow next to Library. Select Authorize Computer... Enter your Adobe ID and password in the appropriate boxes.

Next, in an internet browser, log in to your account on BookStrand.com

In your bookshelf, find the DRM protected eBook you have purchased. Click on the hyperlinked format next to the book (either Secure PDF or Secure EPUB).

On the next page, click on the link titled Download requested eBook.

A file should download on-screen. The file will end in .ascm. Click Open. The book will open in Adobe Digital Editions.

How do I add DRM protected eBooks to my Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD?

To read DRM protected eBooks on a Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD, you will need to first download and install a third-party application, such as Overdrive Media Console.

Make sure that you have an Adobe ID.

Make sure that your Windows Phone 7 is activated with your Adobe ID. To do this, open OverDrive Media Console on your Kindle Fire, and tap on the menu screen. Tap on App Settings.

Enter your Adobe ID and password in the Adobe ID field. Tap on Authorize.

 

Next, purchase a book from BookStrand.com using your Kindle Fire.

In your bookshelf, find the DRM protected eBook you have purchased. Click on the hyperlinked format next to the book (Secure EPUB).

On the next page, click on the link titled Download requested eBook.

The book will open in the Overdrive Media Console application.

How do I add DRM protected eBooks to my Nook, Sony, or Kobo eReader?

To read DRM protected eBooks on a Nook, Sony or Kobo eReader, verify that you have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer. Make sure that you have an Adobe ID.

Open Adobe Digital Editions.

Make sure that your eBook reader is activated with your Adobe ID. To do this, connect your eBook reader to your computer using your USB cord. A window should appear asking you if you want to activate the device.

In an internet browser, log in to your account on BookStrand.com

In your bookshelf, find the DRM protected eBook you have purchased. Click on the hyperlinked format next to the book (Secure EPUB).

On the next page, click on the link titled Download requested eBook.

A file should download on-screen. The file will end in .ascm.

Click Open. The book will open in in Adobe Digital Editions.

Click on the Go to Library View button at the top of the Adobe Digital Editions screen. Now drag the book from the library pane to your device, which should appear in the left pane.

To read DRM protected eBooks on an Android, you will need to first download and install a third-party application, such as Overdrive Media Console.

Swipe left-to-right from the recent screen to show the menu screen. Select settings.

Swipe to the eBook panel.

Select authorize.

Enter your Adobe ID in the Adobe ID box.

Select Authorize

Enter your Adobe ID password.

Select OK

 

Next, purchase a book from BookStrand.com using your Windows Phone 7.

How do I get an Adobe ID?

Go to Adobe’s Sign In Page. Follow the instructions on screen to create an ID and password.

How do I authorize my computer using my Adobe ID?

Open Adobe Digital Editions. Click on the down arrow next to Library.

Select Authorize Computer... Enter your Adobe ID and password in the appropriate boxes and click Enter.

What if I forgot my Adobe ID?

Go to Adobe’s ID retrieval page and follow the instructions on screen.
